I just upgraded the operating system for my Mac Book Air to Catalina, 10.15. As well, I upgraded my OpenOffice to 4.1.7. However, when I try to open OpenOffice, I get a message that it cannot be opened because the developer cannot be verified. Cannot be opened because it is from an unidentified developer mac In this case MacOS is not mentioning that this application is potentially dangerous. This is somewhat confusing as many unidentified developer apps for Mac do receive a message that it cannot be checked for malicious software. If you’re certain that an app you want to install is from a trustworthy source and hasn’t been tampered with, you can temporarily override your Mac security settings and open it. In the Finder, Control-click the app, choose Open from the menu, and in the dialog that appears, click Open. Enter your admin name and password when prompted.
